Italy: tax on lottery prizes
Italy taxes lottery prizes at 20% of the part of each prize above €500, withheld when the prize is paid. For a EUR 1,000,000 SuperEnalotto prize (€1,000,000), the tax is €199,900 and the winner receives €800,100.
How the tax works
Since 1 March 2020 the tax withheld on SuperEnalotto prizes is 20% of the part above EUR 500.
